Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a non-invasive treatment in which a device is used to transmit acoustic shockwaves through the skin to the affected area of muscles and joints.
ACRTBD offers Extracorporeal Focused shockwave therapy (ESWT) as an option for patients suffering from different musculoskeletal conditions. Shockwave therapy is designed to reduce inflammation and promote healing and regeneration with long-lasting results.
The gel allows better transmission of the sound waves to the treatment area. In the final step, the shockwave therapy device (a handheld probe) is touched to the skin over the joints, tendons and sound waves are generated by the touch of a button. This painless treatment is administered by a specialised Regenerative Therapy Practitioner (5-6 sessions). The treatment lasts between 20-30 minutes.
While this treatment method does not cause significant side effects for most people, there are situations where it should not be used.
Your regenerative therapist probably won’t recommend shockwave therapy, for instance, when soft tissue is torn beyond repair. That could increase the soft tissue damage in this case.
